Two companies – Yeo Valley and Faerch – have partnered up to launch  the first ever fully recycled and recyclable yoghurt pot made from 100% PET material.

The new pot comes in three different sizes, includes a lid and a carton-board sleeve to provide a complete recyclable packaging solution. The sleeve enables the manufacturer to print on both sides for marketing purposes.

Yeo Valley is one of the main UK dairy suppliers and a partnership with Faerch – a Dutch-based recycling company – is setting the bar very high for other nationwide companies.

This announcement is a solution to the new government tax which will arrive in 2022 and will affect any packaging with less than 30% of recyclable content.

“Only 9% of plastic waste is recycled – that’s shocking!” Says Faerch CEO, Lars Gade Hansen and adds: “We see this partnership as a great innovation for the environment and a further commitment to the UK Plastics Pact.”

The Dutch company is a proud founder of the UK Plastics Pact and strives to solve the plastic issue once and for all. It just depends on businesses to be willing to make the change.

“Our vision is to run an organic and sustainable farm,” says Yeo Valley farm manager Jon White. He adds: “We are working to close the loop on our packaging and Faerch was an obvious partner to go to – they are the most experienced authority in the business.”

With Faerch being established in 1969 and successfully expanding to many European countries – Netherlands, France, and Spain to name a few – this recycling giant has over 50 years of experience.
