Advertorial – Cheap Way to Revive Old Kitchen Worktops
Durable, easy to clean and virtually indestructible – who doesn’t want a kitchen surface like that?
Having a beautiful marble or quartz countertop is a great way to achieve this, but not everyone can afford a material that costs £200 per square foot.
Luckily, there is a cheaper way around it – epoxy resin.
It’s a type of plastic that is not only gorgeous and easy to work with, but also extremely durable and water resistant. Making it a great material for high traffic areas and around sinks.
Epoxy resin can be applied to just about any surface commonly found in kitchens, whether it’s wood, plywood or melamine – all have to be sanded and primed before application.
There is no need for any special tools. Ordinary wood stick, squeegee, old brush, and a few plastic buckets and cups will do just fine. It’s also a good idea to get some masking tape and plastic sheets to protect any nearby surfaces like the cupboards and floor.
The application itself is easy and fun – it involves layering different shades of resin to create any desired effect.
Many places now sell epoxy resin home kits specifically designed for kitchen worktop overhaul. It costs just £100 for a small kitchen under 4m long.
